Character Interview: King

There are only two important characters in Zombie Playlist, Dagger, the MC you met last week, and King.

King effectively became Dagger’s conscience and reminder of the world before the apocalypse. King is good for her, although she won’t admit it, and I enjoyed weaving him into her life.

Interview:

Describe yourself in just three words.

Friendly, adaptable, and slightly annoying.

How are you dealing with the current state of the world?

You’ve just got to find your little slice of the world and protect it with all you have, whether that be a person or a home. I’m lucky to have both.

You and Dagger are an unlikely pairing. Did you know you’d be in some way significant to each other when you first me

At first, I knew she was my best bet at staying alive. She was tough… really tough. She was also hardened and cold. Dagger just needed reminding of connection and compassion and love. Aķkknd I needed someone to say it how it is. I don’t think unlikely pairing is the right summise… compatible pairing is more accurate..

Name three things that have helped you survived the apocalypse.

My humanity, luck, and Dagger (the person not the weapon).

Character Interview: Dagger

Today’s interview is with Dagger, the protag (should I say anti-heroine) in my zombie novella, Zombie Playlist.

I LOVED writing Dagger. She is a sarcastic, straight talking, zombie apocalypse survivor, and a self proclaimed asshole, as only the assholes survive the apocalypse. Dagger was the character I was most nervous about releasing into the wild, but she received a fantastic reception. I hope you like her too.

Interview:

Dagger, why do you think that you survived a zombie apocalypse?

I know how to handle myself and I didn’t have anyone to drag my ass down. Plus, I’m an asshole… it helps.

Do you think I gave a fair appraisal of you in my introduction?

You forgot unapologetically beautiful, but yeah, it’ll do.

Could you give me some zombie survival tips?

1. Kill them before they kill you. That goes for the living as well as the dead, bitey assholes.

2. See point one.

There’s one person who might say that you’re not as cold and heartless as you first seem? What do you have to say about that?

Nothing.

Nothing at all?

*Smirks* Well, maybe you are shit at appraisals after all.

Okay, fair play. What quote do you choose to live by?

See zombie survival tip one.

Zombie Playlist

Today’s book promo is for my zombie novella, Zombie Playlist. It is 26k words of sass, sarcasm, and gore. I thoroughly enjoyed writing my main character in this narrative, and I think she has become my readers most favourite anti-heroine from my books.

For just 1 week, you can get Zombie Playlist at the sale price of 99p from Amazon.

Praise for Zombie Playlist

Writerly Bookish Me

I have quite a few new followers of late, so I thought I do a quick post to tell you who I am and what I write.

I’m known as K.J to most due to my author name, K.J.Chapman, but my name is Kayleigh. I’m a 32 year old mother of two (one is just 5 months young), and I am a self published author of 5 books.

I particularly like to write in the urban fantasy and fantasy genres, not forgetting the zombie off-shoot of the horror genre.

This blog is dedicated to all things writerly and bookish, and I make all my book related announcements through here.

Currently, I am dedicating Wednesdays to my Writerly Wisdom posts for author quotes and tips. Book reviews are posted as and when I finish a book, and the last Friday of every month is an update post on my writing life.

Thank you to my new followers for joining me, and thanks to my old followers for sticking around.

Release Day: Zombie Playlist

book-review13

Whoop Whoop! Today is the day that Zombie Playlist is released into the wild. I hope the world is ready for Dagger.

I would like to thank every one of my ARC readers for taking the time to read and review. You’ve given Dagger a brilliant chance on her special day. Check out the beta and ARC reviews on Goodreads.

Get your copy of Zombie Playlist here.

zombie-playlist8Blurb: Dagger has survived the zombie apocalypse with nothing save a metal bat, blades, and assholery. With the company of an IPOD she attained courtesy of Dead-Dude, and King, the Bunker-Boy straggler she somehow acquired on her journey, she travels to the coast, putting down zombies, blowing up high-grade assholes, and teaching King how to ditch his pre-apocalypse conscience and keep his yellow ass alive.

Update 02/08/17

book-review8

This is a short and sweet update just to let you know where I am at with things.

Zombie Playlist

The ARCs of Zombie Playlist are now in the hands of the readers. I shall sit here and bite my nails, awaiting feedback. It’s crazy to think that Dagger’s story is released in a month. September 4th is the big day! Mark it in your calendars. You can preorder today by clicking this link.

If you’d like to feature the release of Zombie Playlist on your blog etc, get in touch.

Blog Stuff

I had the pleasure of writing a small piece about self-doubt for Sarina Langer’s post over on her blog, Cookie Break. 14 authors offer sound advice for tackling self-doubt. Head on over and take a look.

What’s Next?

Apart from getting ready for the release, I am prepping for the EVO Ghost edit. This is going to be a mammoth task. Possibly, the biggest editing task I have had to date. I have no idea on timescale, deadlines, or the such.

The Red Archer has grown by a few thousand words since the last update, but this is on the back burner whilst the EVO Ghost edit is in full swing. I know that I will dip in here and there as I can’t solely edit without losing my sanity.
