Word of the Year 2019

I am such a cotton headed ninny muggins sometimes. I was perusing everyone’s word of the year social media posts etc, and someone happened to ask if I had a word of the year because they hadn’t seen it in my posts.

That got me thinking about what post I mentioned my word of the year in. I went back through my end of 2018 posts and my 2019 plans posts, and… I didn’t mention it anywhere. I was sure I had included it, but alas, I had not.

So, it may be a little later than I had planned, but I have been consciously working with my word in mind throughout January. I still want to share it with you despite it being nearly February.

My word of the year is…

I chose this word because it focusses my 2019 goals in my mind. I want to build on my blog, my followers, my review team, my Amazon reviews… I simply want to market, grow, and publish books like a boss!

In my personal life I want to build more memories with my husband and kids. This year, we have plans to have mini, weekend breaks within Cornwall (and hopefully beyond). Going abroad is not an option for us this year, but we live somewhere beautiful and plan to make the most of it with family days, holidays, and adventures.

My son is 9 months old, so we want my daughter to have new, family memories with her sibling, and enjoy 2019 as a four.

Do you have a word of the year? Let me know. I love to hear them and the reasoning behind them.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year 2019!

I am grateful to my followers old and new for choosing to read my posts and interact with me on Writerly Bookish Stuff.

Many of you stuck around even though my posting in the first half of the year was dramatically reduced due to pregnancy, and then the arrival of my little man, Mikey.

2019 has many awesome, blog related things in store. I hope to have an increase in content, interaction, and followers, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Here’s to a great year for us all. I hope you all stop by for the first post of my new blog series, Prompt Me, on Jan 2nd.

My 2019 Goals

2018 was a pretty lax year as far as my books and writing goes. I gave birth to my second child in May, so I didn’t go into 2018 with many goals other than tending to my little humans.

I feel like I can be a little more productive with all things bookish and writerly in 2019. My goals are achievable with some hardwork and forward planning, so I shall start as I mean to go on…

1. Set up a review squad for all future ARCs.

My main focus will be Amazon reviews. I’m looking into efficient ways to boost reviews and find reliable reviewers for old and new books.

Actually, this is already set up on my blog and on Linktree, but I haven’t promoted it yet. Watch this space in the very near future.

2. Finish getting EVO Ghost and Zombie Playlist in print.

I am 3/4 of the way to finalising this. I just haven’t had the time to put in to perfecting the paperbacks, so I left it until I did. I want it done right, after all.

3. Signed copies.

I shall be doing limited amounts of signed copies of my books at different times throughout the coming year. There will be some giveaways thrown in too.

4. Finish the first draft of my new zombie novella.

This is totally doable. I know the tone of the narrative and voices of the characters, so that’s me set. I hope to finish the first draft in the first 1/4 of 2018.

The cover is ready!!! No doubt there will be a reveal in due course. I think I might do a cover and title reveal at the same time.

5. Pick up where I left off on my Indigo Flame novel book 2, The Red Archer.

This novel is much more time consuming, so I’m realistic in thinking completion of the first draft in 2018 might be a stretch. Time will tell.

6. Schedule my blog series.

I’m planning to schedule 4 series in blocks of ten weeks. There will be a few weeks break in between each, but I will constantly post book reviews and monthly updates.

My first series is related to one of my books, Prompt Me. This starts Wednesday Jan 2nd. I will also start a regular Teaser Tuesday feature on Tuesday Jan 8th. Book reviews will be posted on Fridays, and Sundays will be my sharing days, whether that be blogs I like, Instagrammers worth a follow etc.

Those are my plans so far. Once I start checking some off of my list, I shall think about new plans and goals, but I’ve got enough to be cracking on with.

What are your goals for 2018?

The New Year & All That Goes With It

Happy New Year to all who celebrate it. I hope you awoke this morning totally celebrated out, but hangover free. If not hangover free, just think of the memories you have made… or depending on how much you drank, lack of memories.

Seeing as this is my first post of the new year, I would like to take the time to thank all of my followers for the great support I received in 2015. I started my little blog in June, and have gained an overwhelming 158 followers since. All the kind comments, reblogs, and shares on social media have not only motivated me, but they have also warmed my heart. My sincerest thanks goes to you all.

So, what does 2016 hold for me?

I am a resolution maker. Resolutions such as gym memberships and saving money always fall by the wayside, so I set myself achievable, meaningful resolutions I’d like to accomplish in regards to my family life and with my writing.

My Resolutions

Family Ambitions:

  • Eat healthier.
  • Go away together (even if we stay inside the UK, even if we stay inside Cornwall for that matter.)
  • Use my husbands days off wisely.
  • Make more of the weekends when we are all free at the same time.
  • Get through the bungalow extension with our sanity.  (Our landlady is extending the bungalow we rent and it is a mammoth job.)
  • Turn thirty in style! (We have 12 days between our thirtieth birthdays, and plan to hold a joint party.)
  • Throw Sophie her first, big, birthday party for her sixth birthday. (The invite her whole class kind of party, with lots of sugar).
  • De-clutter. (This is a must before the extension.)

Writing Ambitions:

  • Complete and self-publish EVO Shift (by April at the very latest.)
  • Complete the third and final book in the EVO Nation Series (by November.)
  • Complete and self publish my current side project (by February. This is very near completion.)
  • At least make a start on my new series by the end of the year.
  • Self- publish a Christmas novella. (This is a side project that will only come to fruition if time allows.)
  • Build and grow my blog and web presence.

I’m not a martyr, and if I don’t fulfil every resolution/ ambition I won’t beat myself up over it or push myself to breaking point. I simply enjoy setting goals to aim for. All our family ambitions are easily achievable, and are just continuations on what we have already started. All except that dreaded extension… ‘think of the end result, Kayleigh- more space.’

Each new year feels like a fresh start to reassess where I am at and set new goals. I hope you all are looking forward to the new year and the possibilities 2016 may bring.

Tell yourself that…
