My Writing & Blogging 2020 Plans

As I go forward into 2020, I am trying to prioritise my writing and everything that is part of that parcel. 2019 wasn’t my most productive in regards to my writing, and part of the reason was my blog series deadlines. If I say I’m doing a series for 10 weeks, I will stick to my promise even if that means my writing projects going on the back burner. In 2019, I did 40 weeks in total! That was fine for 2019, as I couldn’t do as much writing with my young son in tow, but now he is a toddler, and I have a little more time, I need to reorganise the workload.

That reorganisation is ensuring I put my writing first. I would like to publish my Zombies and Budgie Smugglers novella this year, and that means serious editing time.

I need to get back into the saddle and remember that my blog and social media accounts are a by-product of my writing goals, not the other way around.

So, what does that mean for Writerly Bookish Stuff?...

Firstly, I will not be posting any topical blog series this year.

Secondly, book reviews will continue as and when I finish books.

Thirdly, I will, of course, post any information in regards to my books, new releases, and promotions etc.

Finally, I will post one writerly post a month (to correpsond with #authortoolboxbloghop) on every 3rd Wednesday of the month.

I hope to have much more news on my Zombies and Budgie Smugglers novellas to post throughout 2020, and I want to thank all my readers for coming on the journey with me. I hope you stick around to see what I can achieve this year!

Writing Hiatus

I have decided to take a writing hiatus until September. After managing 5k during CampNaNo, I haven’t been able to get anything written and I’ve been feeling this constant, nagging guilt like I should be doing something else.

My daughter is off school for the holidays, and with family taking precedent, I am allowing myself to put Zombies and Budgie Smugglers aside until she is back to school.

I may get some handwritten bits and bobs down, but I have taken the pressure off myself for the month. No more writing guilt!

However, the blog posts will continue. Next week, is episode 5 of my First Draft series and it is all about crafting protagonists. Teaser Tueaday will be put on the back burner until September as no writing means no teasers. I am currently, thinking up a post to replace it.

Small Blog Hiatus

Just a quick post to say that I am having a small hiatus this week and next from Writerly Bookish Stuff. I am a busy bee, and I am going away for a long weekend with my family this weekend. My husband then has a further week’s holiday from work.

I shall resume with my Teaser Tuesday posts on June 18th. Nit forgetting there are still 2 more Character Interview posts to share on the 19th and 26th.

See you all soon!

Zombie Playlist

Today’s book promo is for my zombie novella, Zombie Playlist. It is 26k words of sass, sarcasm, and gore. I thoroughly enjoyed writing my main character in this narrative, and I think she has become my readers most favourite anti-heroine from my books.

For just 1 week, you can get Zombie Playlist at the sale price of 99p from Amazon.

Praise for Zombie Playlist

Thank You for the Big Ideas!

Firstly, I want to kick off this post with a big thank you to everyone who got in touch with their suggestions on what blog post series they’d like to see on Writerly Bookish Stuff in the future.

I have listened to you all. It’s great to know that some of my previous series received such a great reception.

With that in mind, I shall be holding a picture prompt series and a series about writing a first draft. Both of these series will run in the 2nd half of the year. I’ll let you know more nearer the time

Don’t forget that there is still series two, Character Interviews, to look forward to on Wednesday 10th April. You’ll get to know a little more about my characters over the next ten weeks.

Title Reveal

Now that my Teaser Tuesday posts are well underway, and I have been posting teasers from my current WIP, I thought it time to do a title reveal.

The blurb and cover reveal will be a little while yet, as I haven’t even finished the first draft. I’m hoping April’s CampNaNo will help me with that!

Enough chatter, KJ, what did you call the damn book?…

Zombies and Budgie Smugglers

I think this sums up the whole tone and feel of the novella. If you don’t know what budgie smugglers are… Google it. 🤣

Keep your eyes peeled for more teasers and next week’s blurb reveal.

Have Your Say: What Blog Series Do You want To See?

Guess what? I’m already planning my third blog series of the year. I’m only half way through posting the first series, Prompt Me, but I am a person who likes to prep and schedule ahead of time.

I have a few ideas that I’m batting around, but it occurred to me that the best people to ask about what content they want to see are my followers.

Is there a specific post you like to see on my blog i.e. my writing exercise posts, or more bookish posts. Do you enjoy more posts about my own books, or writerly tip shares?

Get in touch and let me know. I would love to tailor my posts accordingly.

Word of the Year 2019

I am such a cotton headed ninny muggins sometimes. I was perusing everyone’s word of the year social media posts etc, and someone happened to ask if I had a word of the year because they hadn’t seen it in my posts.

That got me thinking about what post I mentioned my word of the year in. I went back through my end of 2018 posts and my 2019 plans posts, and… I didn’t mention it anywhere. I was sure I had included it, but alas, I had not.

So, it may be a little later than I had planned, but I have been consciously working with my word in mind throughout January. I still want to share it with you despite it being nearly February.

My word of the year is…

I chose this word because it focusses my 2019 goals in my mind. I want to build on my blog, my followers, my review team, my Amazon reviews… I simply want to market, grow, and publish books like a boss!

In my personal life I want to build more memories with my husband and kids. This year, we have plans to have mini, weekend breaks within Cornwall (and hopefully beyond). Going abroad is not an option for us this year, but we live somewhere beautiful and plan to make the most of it with family days, holidays, and adventures.

My son is 9 months old, so we want my daughter to have new, family memories with her sibling, and enjoy 2019 as a four.

Do you have a word of the year? Let me know. I love to hear them and the reasoning behind them.
