Okay, I better explain that title, right? And perhaps the picture… Who am I kidding? It’s pretty self-explanatory.
Yep, even though I was a bitch of an author to some of my characters in EVO Shift, not many died. Not many in comparison to the 15 in EVO Nation. Yep, 15! Some were minor characters, but still- 15! Technically, there is more if you add in the faceless, nameless characters, but let’s not.
Now that I am drafting EVO Ghost, book three, the time has come for me to make the hard choices. Hard because my characters are my babies, and hard because someone needs to die. *Insert evil laugh here*.
Is it wrong that I enjoy a good, poignant death scene? I love fiddling with the narrative to create the perfect boiling pot of emotion. I want my readers to feel the death, whether it’s sadness at the loss of a beloved character, or euphoria as I dish out just desserts. It’s all in the name of writing fun.
On a final note, that meme was not created by me. I actually stumbled across it. Coincidence? I think not!

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying writing a poignant death scene. I enjoy reading scenes like that as it runs me through all different sides of emotions. Writing them can be fulfilling and heartbreaking but if it needs to be down, we might as well enjoy it as writers hey?
Keep it up and never change it š

It’s part of the job and might as well enjoy it, find the silver lining. I love it when authors aren’t afraid to kill their babies. Although, I may not like it in the moment and may have to hold myself back from sending hate mail but after the sobbing rage subsides, I totally admire them for it ;p Good luck! I know it’ll be great and worth it in the end š

It was hard in book one, but it’s going to be torture in book three. I’ve had longer with these characters, and I love them š¦ I will step up, though- all in the name of narrative progression š

I have to admit that I’m a sucker for a good death scene. I hate that I love killing my characters and yet, everytime I sit down to write a death scene, I feel such joy when I feel sad. It’s the strangest thing. My sister cried the first time she read my WIP and called me cruel but I think we all crave those moments when a character dies — but only if that death feels earned.
Now I’m REALLY getting excited for EVO Ghost! ā¤

It’s really hard this time around, but as you know, I have way too many characters to get through book 3 in one piece. It is just inevitable, with what I have planned, to lose someone.
You’re right! It is joyful sadness. And self inflicted too haha. If it affects us, then hopefully it affects the readers in the same way. š
