In the 1920’s, Ernest Hemingway was supposed to have won a bet for successfully proving that he could write a six word short story:
For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.
There is no denying that those six words provide a moving, heart breaking, tragic tale. I can picture tiny, red, Mary-Jane shoes in a pristine box, wrapped in tissue paper, and a grieving mother crying over the them.
I attempted the six word story challenge, and it was harder than I anticipated. To create six words that work together to spur the imaginations and emotions of the reader is no easy feat.
Here are my attempts:
We had the cure all along.
I chose euthanasia. Dignity in death.
Aliens reply, “We’re leaving. Earth sucks.”
As I said, a lot harder than I first anticipated, but I don’t think I did too badly.
I challenge anyone who wants a go, and I look forward to your six word stories.

This is a lot harder than it sounds at first. I remember struggling to write a story in 134 characters for a Twitter thing. Six words is a lot harder!

It really is! I thought it would be an easy post, but I was mistaken 😉 And I’ll never live up to Hemingway…

Hmm, now this needs some thought first! Six words aren’t a lot, so well done you! I’ll have to give this a shot later, will let you know how I’ve done 🙂

Please do. I went in with a misguided confidence, but I don’t think I did too badly. 😉

You really didn’t! My first thought was that it wouldn’t be too hard but actually six words doesn’t give you much wriggle room. It’ll be a fun challenge! 🙂

Considering these were your results, I don’t think you did bad! This is good. We can’t really think of touching the founder’s levels, but the attempt is what matters 🙂
